Alex W. Smithberger, age 77, formerly of 214 Bowmanville St., Akron, died at the
Westbrook Park Nursing Home Canton early Monday morning [10 Nov 1975] after
an extended illness.
Born in Harriettsville, Ohio (Noble County) March 12 1898, he lived in the Akron
area 55 years. A self-employed painter, he retired in 1965. He was a member of Annun-
ciation Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council in Akron.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Marie Zimmerman of Massillon; five nieces, Mrs.
Raymond (Marjorie) Kilkenny, Mrs. Harold (Eileen) Begue, Mrs. Joseph (Delores) Samblanet,
Mrs. June Lewis of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Dale (Sandy) Keller of Kingston, Penna., one
nephew, Larry Pillot of Solon, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial was sung Wednesday 10 A.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church,
with burial in the church cemetery. Calling hours were Tuesday from 7 to 9 at the Paquelet
Funeral Home.
