Alexander Gibbs Rice Jr. WESLACO, Texas - Alexander Gibbs Rice Jr., 81, of Weslaco died Feb. 20, 1998. He was a native of Randolph County, Va., a graduate of Dunbar (W.Va.) High School, received a bachelor's degree from the College of Engineering and Commerce, University of Cincinnati, and was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as the engineering officer on the USS Knox. He was president of the accounting firm Rice and Rice Inc., Dunbar, with 30 years' service, a former president of West Virginia Accounting Association, a retired lieutenant commander from Navy Reserve with 27 years' service, a Boy Scout leader and council explorer adviser, and a member and former treasurer of Highlawn Presbyterian Church, St. Albans, W.Va. Surviving: wife, Mary Ellen Rice; son, James K. Rice of Cincinnati; daughter, Sally Lawrence of San Clemente, Calif.; four grandchildren. Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Saturday at Highlawn Presbyterian Church. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the church.
