Wayne Stanley Breiner, age 87, a resident of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the Olathe Medical Center Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas.
He was born August 25, 1927, in Humboldt, Kansas, the son of Carl O. Breiner and Alta A. Debler Breiner.
Wayne graduated from the Chanute High School in 1945. He served with the United States Navy during World War II. He later enlisted with the United States Army and served from 1950 to 1952. Following his military service, Wayne attended Pittsburg State University and received a BS degree in Business Administration. He began working for J. C. Penney Co. in Chanute and Pittsburg and later transferred to the Fort Scott store. In October of 1956, Wayne was hired as store manager for Calhoun’s. He stayed with Calhoun’s until it closed in December of 1985. He then worked for Double Circle Farm Supply from 1986 until his retirement in August of 1992. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and in his earlier years had been active with the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce and the Jaycees.
Survivors include his two children, Sandra Lancellotti and husband, Greg, of Spring Hill, Kansas and Randal Breiner and wife, Amy, of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Erin Harvey and husband Scott, of Harveyville, Kansas, Riston Breiner and wife, Lauren, of Topeka, Kansas, Ramsie Breiner of Springfield, Andrea Smith and husband, Ben, of Kansas City, Missouri and Ashlea Straley and husband, Ryan, of Spring Hill. Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren, Braxton, Benson, Anderson, Stock, Steel, Sage, Noah, Levi, True and Trey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Warren and Don Breiner.
Following cremation, Trevor Jacobs will conduct a memorial service at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 20th at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post #1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorials are suggested to the Olathe Medical Center Hospice House and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
