  Notes	From different sources I have heard the story that Daniel Gartner was engaged to another woman. I believe that Louise Hoersch became pregnant by Daniel and he was forced into marrying Louise. There was a mention that Louise's father, Johann HOERSCH had been a minister, and one who had some importance in the town.

  [S927] Obituary. Daniel Gartner GLEN ULLIN Daniel D. Gartner, 83, Strasburg, formerly of Glen Ullin, died Oct. 23, 1987, at the Linton hospital. The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8:30 p.m. today at the church, with a rosary service at 7:30. Mr. Gartner was born Aug. 4, 1911, at Glen Ullin, where he was raised and attended school. He married Katherine Heidt, Nov. 25, 1930, in Glen Ullin. They farmed near Glen Ullin until 1960. She died in 1960. He moved to Bismarck, where he worked for St. Alexius Medical Center until retiring in 1969. He had been a resident of the Strasburg Nursing Home since 1982. Survivors are a son, Willie, West Fargo; five daughters, Rosemary Ell, Mesa, Ariz., Ida Kottenbrock, Glen Ullin, Marlene Tschosik, Stra-burg, Viola Hartin, Sioux City, Iowa, and Esther Grasma, Sioux Falls, S.D.; three brothers, Steve, Glendive, Mont., Joe, Long Beach, Calif., and Nick, Dickinson; two sisters, Rose Gartner, Dickinson, and Monica Fischer, Auburn Wash.; 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
