  [S927] Obituary. GERALD J. DRIES ARKPORT - Gerald J. Dries, 72, of 8616 Burns Rd., Arkport, died early Sunday morning (Sept. 28, 2003) at the VA Hospital in Bath, following a long illness. Born in Hornell on Feb. 8, 1931, he was the son of Arthur and Grace (Sylvester) Dries. Gerald was a graduate of Arkport Central School. He had been employed for 10 1/2 years at Westinghouse Corporation in Bath, and later was employed for 20 years at the former SKF in Hornell, retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church. He was married in 1953 to the former Sara Williams, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Bruce (Bobbi) Dries of Arkport, David Dries of Robesonia, Pa., and Edward (Fiama) Dries of Naples, Italy; one daughter, Susan (Lewis) Woodvine of Arkport; four sisters, Anna Greenmum of Phoenix, Ariz., Delores Sherwood of Elmira Heights, Frances Paladin of New Mexico, and Lois Fredricks of Ithaca; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family of Gerald J. Dries received friends on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, where funeral and committal services were held at the conclusion of calling hours at 8 p.m., with Father Robert Kanka officiating. Interment in the Bath National Cemetery.
