  [S927] Obituary. Funeral services for Mrs. Stephen Douglas Bass were held at Mineral Ridge. Tuesday September 12, 1944 at 1;45 in the home and 2 o'clock in the Baptist Church, the Rev L E Viets acting pastor of the church in charge. The Church was filed to capacity with sympathizing neighbors and friends from a wide community. Pallbearers Were James Cole, Henry E. Cole, H L Wilson, C J Carlson, John Gates and Will Gates. Burial was inthe family lot in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery. Rosanna Fyock, daughter of Caroline and David Fyock, was born June 28, 1871 in Polk County, Iowa and died in the convalescent home in Boone, September 9, 1944 aged 73 years, 2 months, 14 days. She was married to Stephen Douglas Bass November 22, 1888. Following their marriage MR. and Mrs. Bass live 2 years in Ashland, Neb then returned to Iowa and had live in this vicinity ever since, the 'home place' being in Northwest Dodge Township, and for the past 15 years in Mineral Ridge. Mr Bass died Jan 2, 1937. Mr. and Mrs Bass were parents of four sons and five daughters. One daughter, Marie, is deceased. The surviving children are Mrs. Leonard Runn of Stratford, Mrs. L J Burkey of Woodward, Oklahoma, Mrs. Minnie Chles of Boone, Mrs. Irene Stolte of Dodge Township. August on the old home place in Dodge Township, Floyd and Leroy of Boone, and Elmer of the home in Ridge. There are 27 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Also a step-son and daughter, Stephen E. Bass, Superintendent of the Boone County Home and Mrs. Julia Hannum of Boone. Two sisters and two brothers also survive. Mrs. John Tuttle of Frasier, Mrs. May Grove of Boone and Alvin and Dan of Dodge Township. Mrs. Bass was baptized on confession of faith and united with the Mineral Ridge baptist church when 15 years of age, and had been a constant and loyal member Ti death.
