LAWRENCE'S OBITUARY
Lawrence "Pip" Lambrix, age 77 of Morley, formerly of South Rockwood, MI passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Mecosta County Medical Center. He had been ill for a year. Pip was born August 12, 1933 in Monroe, the son of Lawrence and Adeline (Mason) Lambrix. He graduated from St. Patrick High School in Wyandotte in 1951. Pip was honorably discharged from the United States Coast Guard, serving from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War. Pip met his future bride in Erie, Pennsylvania and married Phyllis Gail Kramer on October 23, 1954. He owned and operated both the Lambrix Hardware and Fred and Larry's Party Store in Rockwood, MI. During his spare time and after work, he loved to help his mother on the family farm, working to keep the farm up and running. In 1976 Pip moved the family to Morley and he worked as an insurance agent for AFLAC. . Pip was a member of American Legion, Knox-Helms Post # 554, in Morley where he enjoyed playing Euchre with all his friends. He was an avid Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan. Pip always had a joke to keep you laughing. No matter who you were, you were his "favorite" . Pip worked hard to support his wife and family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Phyllis Gail Lambrix of Morley; 5 sons, Lawrence Jr. (Nancy) of Newport, MI, Gary (Brenda) of Morley, Terrance (Linda) of Morley, Michael (Lynette) of Morley, Kevin (Keith) of Benton Harbor; 2 daughters, Gail (Roger) Justice of Riverview, Susan (Darrin) Ziesman of Hubbard Lake; 25 Grandchildren, 14 Great-grandchildren; a brother Lyle (Paula) Lambrix; 4 sisters, Elaine (Donald) Hollister, Donna (Leroy) Southworth, Diane (Doug) Thorn, Joyce (George) Lechy and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Pip was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Lynwood, Charles and Lloyd. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Father David Gross officiating. The family will greet friends prior to services on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until services at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
