Nonie C. Opperman
Nonie C. Opperman, 66, Winfield, died Friday, July 18, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. today. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Born May 19, 1942, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Wayne and Edith (Keevert) Krepps. She owned and operated Nonie's Beauty Shop in Burden. She was employed as a receptionist and substitute teacher coordinator for USD No. 465 until retirement. Survivors include her husband, Robert of the home; daughters, Cindy R. Venn, Belleville, Ill.; and Francie A. Wampler, Winfield; mother, Edith Krepps, Winfield; brother, Ray Krepps, Winfield; sisters, Chalea Starlin, Oxford, Gaye Stumpff, Cassville, Mo.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Krepps; and one niece.
Memorials have been established for Hospice Care of Kansas and Victory in the Valley. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield. Online condolences may be made at www.milesfuneralservice.com.

Bio: WAYNEVA "NONIE" C. OPPERMAN, 66, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, July 18, 2008 at her home. Born on May 19, 1942 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Wayne and Edith (Keevert) Krepps. She received her early education in Akron, Kansas, and later graduated from Winfield High School in 1960. She attended cosmetology school in Wichita. Nonie owned and operated Nonie's Beauty Shop in Burden. She was united in marriage to Dennis Leftwich on July 16, 1961 and to this union two daughters, Cindy and Francie were born. The couple later divorced. Nonie was united in marriage on July 15, 1989 to Robert Opperman in the Tisdale United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Winfield. Nonie had been employed at Binney & Smith, Winfield State Hospital & Training Center and B&S Well Service. She was employed as a receptionist and substitute teacher coordinator for USD #465, retiring in 2002. Nonie attended the Tisdale United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, dancing and music, especially the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival. Her family includes: Her husband: Robert of the home; Her daughters: Cindy R. Venn and husband Mike of Belleville, ILL: and Francie A. Wampler and husband Mike of Winfield, KS; Her mother: Edith Krepps of Winfield, KS; Her brother: Ray Krepps and wife Janice of Winfield, KS; Her sisters: Chalea Starlin of Oxford, KS; and Gaye Stumpff and husband Roger of Cassville, MO; and Her grandchildren: Austin and Sadie Eastman, and Brandon and Logan Wampler. Nonie was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Krepps; and a niece, Sunni Stumpff. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Monday, July 21, 2008. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., that evening. Memorials have been established in Nonie's name for Hospice Care of Kansas and Victory in the Valley.
