Arthur Elmer Mettler (1921 - 2011) Arthur Elmer Mettler, 90, formerly of Lodi, died Feb. 5. He was born Jan. 27, 1921 in Lodi. Mr. Mettler worked the family ranch and then retired. He attended and graduated from Lodi Union High School. He was a self-taught musician, playing the piano and the trombone, and was an accomplished oil painter. He was a member of Zion Reformed Church. He is survived by his nephew, Curtis Mettler; and niece, Kathy Haynie. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leon, Marvin, Albert and Howard Mettler. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Donahue Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Interment will be private at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. He was 90. A native of Lodi, Mr. Mettler was a resident of Santa Cruz for the past 45 years. He was a farmer and dairyman at a family ranch in Lodi. Mr. Mettler was a lifelong member of Zion Reformed Church in Lodi. SURVIVORS: One niece and one nephew. SERVICES: 3 p.m. Feb. 11 at Donahue Funeral Home, 123 N. School St., Lodi.
