Bio: OBITUARY: Garrett Clipper, April 9, 1936JOHN SHOUDEL DIES AT AUBURN OF PARALYSIS------------------------WAS KIN OF GARRETT RESIDENTS; BORN IN GERMANY AND ENGAGED IN FOUNDRY WORK MANY YEARSThe death of John Shoudel, a well known Auburn resident, occurred at 10:10 o'clock Monday night as the result of paralysis. He was stricken last Friday in his garage and he never regained consciousness.Mr. Shoudel with the exception of the last year spent all of his mature years following the vocation of a foundryman. He helped to build what is now the Auburn foundry and was with this concern until his health prevented active work a year ago. Prior to that he was with the old Model Gas Engine company. He worked for some time in a foundry at Auburn Junction and also in the old Ensley foundry, which burned down many years ago.Mr. Shoudel was a native of Germany and was born seventy-two years ago last August 4. At the age of seven years he came with his parents to the United States and the family took up its residence near Waterloo, afterward moving to Jackson Center in Jackson township.Fifty-two years ago in January Mr. Shoudel was united in marriage with Lydia Jane Osbun of Jackson township, and with the exception of two years, during which they lived in Kendallville, Auburn has been their place of residence. Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Shoudel celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.Mr. Shoudel is survived by the widow and four children, William Shoudel of South Peters street, Garrett; Mrs. Walter E. Sithen of South Cowen street, Garrett; Mrs. Lottie Eberhart of Angola; and Arthur Shoudel of East Eighteenth street, Auburn. A sister, Mrs. Lena Wetoskey, resides in Avilla. There are a half brother Michael Shoudel, who lives in Jackson township, and four half sisters. Mrs. John H. Shunk and Miss Otilla Shoudel of South Franklin street; Mrs. S.E. Shutt of south of Garett; and Mrs. Frank Janorsche of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Mr. Shoudel was a member of Auburn lodge, Knights of Pythias.The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home with the Rev. O.B. Noren, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran church, officiating and burial will be made in Woodlawn cemetery.
