Cyril T. ?Cy? Burkhart, age 91, of Lewisville, Ohio went to be with his Lord Monday March 31, 2014 while surrounded by his family. Cyril was born on March 25, 1923 in Lewisville, Ohio son of the late Aloysius and Cecilia (Schwallie) Burkhart.
He was a farmer and school bus driver for Switzerland of Ohio School District and a lifetime member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church. He loved playing dominoes, playing cards, horse shoes, fishing and going to his grandson Tanner?s basketball and baseball games, visiting and laughing with friends young and old. During special events he helped mom make noodles. Not only was he an amazing person, he cared for people and he loved to sit and talk about his younger days. Even though the last months he struggled, he never lost his will to live, and he never complained. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Lucian, Herman, and Leander, two sisters Constantine (Connie), and Sister Joanna Burkhart, two brothers-in-law Roman Burkhart, William McLaughlin and one sister-in-law Martha McLaughlin.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years Rosemary Wahl Burkhart, daughters, Carolyn (Neil) Dick, Helen (Ron) Gardner, Cathy (Ron) Gallagher, Barb (Ron) Lisko, Ruth (Kevan) Taylor, Janet (Blaine) Hagins, Mary (Walt) Burkhart-Saneda, Shirley (John) Reed, and one son Cyril (Barb) Burkhart Jr., one sister Stella (Paul) Crum, 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins and very special friends.
Friends received from 2 ? 4 & 6 ? 8 p.m. Friday April 4, 2014 at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio with Vigil service at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday April 5, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Miltonsburg, Ohio with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Josephs Chapel Hill Cemetery near Burkhart Station.
