Ludwig, John H. Ludwig
Monroe County Beacon, Woodsfield, Ohio, dated September 29, 1941
LKP#7
John S. Ludwig, born June 26, 1869, in Malaga Township, Monroe County, Ohio, departed this earthly life on September 14, 1941, at the age of 72 years, 2 months, and 19 days. He lived on the same farm north of Lewisville his entire life and was known and respected by the whole community.
He was confirmed at St. John?s (Middle) Church, on March 25, 1883, remaining a faithful member of the church unto the end.
In 1893, he was united in marriage with Anna Hehr, who survives to mourn his life. To this union two children were born, who also survive the deceased; they are: Gilbert J. Ludwig, of Woodsfield, Ohio, and Mrs. Helen Egger, of Akron, Ohio. There are also five grandchildren.
Four sisters and one brother of the deceased are left to mourn his loss: Mrs. Caroline Weber, of Lewisville; Mrs. Pauline Egger, of Byesville; Mrs. Clara Steele, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mrs. Louisa Roth, of Lewisville; and Charles Ludwig, of Lewisville. In addition to the above named there are a host of other relatives and friends.
Short services were held at his home at 1:00 p.m. and final rites at 2:00 p.m. at the Middle Church Evangelical and Reformed Church on Wednesday, September 17th , with his pastor, Rev. F. A. Reigle, officiating. Burial was made in the Oak Lawn cemetery, Woodsfield.
Thus a loving husband and father has passed to the Great Beyond. May God keep him in His care.
Weep not that his toils are over,
Weep not that his race is run,
God grant we may rest as calmly,
When our work, like his is done.
?Till then we yield with gladness,
Our father to Him to keep,
And rejoice in sweet assurance,
?He giveth His loved one sleep.?
Relatives and friends attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Alex Forbes, Mrs. Freda Larkin, Mrs. Clara Steele and John Schrader of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Everet Mossena of Beaver, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ackerman, of Donora, Pa.; Mrs. Sophia McAllister of Scenery Hill, Pa.; Mrs. Evaline Egger and Clifford Egger of Byesville; Ben Hehr and Arthur Hehr of Bridgeport; Edward Hehr, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Ihlenfeld and E.
