Edna M. Bellm, 91, died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at the Calhoun Nursing and Rehab Center in Hardin.
She was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Hardin, one of nine children born to Frank L. and Berniece (Grandsinger) Hazelwonder. She grew up in Calhoun County along the Blue Ridge, and graduated from Hardin High School.
After her marriage to Norbert Bellm Nov. 22, 1937, in Michael, they moved to St. Louis, where they raised their three sons. After retirement, they moved to Jerseyville to enjoy the quieter life among her family, her sisters, brothers and their families. Her three sons were frequent visitors along with their families, and they enjoyed their many driving vacation trips during those years. After almost 55 years of marriage, Norbert passed away Sept. 5, 1992.
She was devoted to her family and her church, and was a true gentle lady.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Bellm and Brooke Miller of Godfrey, Richard and Mary Bellm of Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Judy Bellm of Lake Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Steven, Julia, Marty, Scott and Kelly; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Hazelwonder of Amboy.
Preceding her in death was a son, Ron Bellm; grandson, Gregg; a brother, Anthony "Tony" Hazelwonder; six sisters, Iva Gorman, Janis Smith, Thelma Herkert, Cleo Holmes, Gilda McIntyre and Marion Droege.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Fr. William Hembrow officiating.
Burial will be at Saint Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Michael.
Memorials will be given to the Calhoun Area Ambulance Service.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Calhoun Care Center who lovingly cared for Edna the past six years.
