Marguerite Brubach (nee Matz) Source: Newspaper clipping, August 1939 Mrs. Marguerite Brubach, nee Matz, was born February 15, 1852, at Ober-Schlattersbach, Rhein - Pfaltz Byron, Germany, the daughter of Peter and Eva Matz. She died August 21, 1939, at the age of 87. She was baptized and confirmed in Germany. At the age of 17, she made the trip from Germany to this country alone, settling in Woodsfield, Ohio. She was united in marriage with Karl Brubach on January 30, 1873. In 1923, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Their union was blessed with two children: Henry Brubach and Mrs. Minnie Claus, of Lewisville. She was preceded in death by the son, Henry, who died the twelfth of September 1928; and her husband on the 21st of October 1933. She is mourned by her two sisters: Mrs. Mary Stauch and Mrs. Eva Hettig; by four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, besides many other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Claus, and at St. John?s Evangelical and Reformed Church, (Middle Church) Wednesday afternoon, August 23. The interment was at St. John?s cemetery. Rev. William R. Walch officiated.
