Mrs. Clara L. Christman, daughter of Fred and Caroline Haffner Claus, was born February 17, 1898, near Lewisville, Ohio, and departed from this life February 12, 1966, at Doctors Hospital, Massillon, Ohio, being 67 years, 11 months and 26 days of age.She was united in marriage with Elmer G. Christman on April 29, 1924. To this union three sons and one daughter was born.
Surviving are her husband, Elmer Christman, of Apple Creek, Ohio; two sons, Melvin Christman, of Apple Creek, and LaVern Christman, of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter, Carolyn, of Apple Creek; one sister, Mrs. Anna Christman, of Barnesville, Ohio; two brothers, Edwin Claus, of Smithland, Iowa, and Gilbert Claus, of Lewisville, Ohio, and one uncle, John Haffner, of Harrietsville, Ohio.
An infant son, her parents, four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. Christman was confirmed at an early age in the United Church of Christ (Middle Church). She spent most of her life in Lewisville vicinity, moving to Apple Creek, Ohio in 1950 where she remained until her death. The last two years she was a semi-invalid but always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.
The body lay in state on Sunday, February 13 at McIntire's Funeral Home, Wooster, Ohio, being transferred on Monday to Brubach's Funeral Home, at Summerfield, Ohio. Services were conducted by the Reverend Donald Stump, on Tuesday, February 15, at the Fellowship Hall, Lewisville, with burial in the St. John's Middle Church cemetery, near Lewisville.
