Gertrude Stoebner, 93, of Tyler, MN, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the Divine Providence Nursing Home in Ivanhoe. Funeral services for Gertrude Stoebner will be Wednesday, May 2 at 2:00 PM at the Alliance Church in Tyler. Visitation begins at 1:00 PM at the church.
Officiant is Pastor Wayde Kenneke.
Pianist is Sybil Groeneweg. Congregational hymns are "?Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus," "One Day at a Time," and "Surely Goodness and Mercy."
Casket Bearers are Boe Stoebner, Joshua Stoebner, Roger Stoebner, Tom Barron, Allen B. Johnson, and John Groeneweg.

Gertrude Sophia Stoebner was born August 3, 1913 to John and Christine (Bauder) Kiehlbauch at Pievana, Montana. Following her education she did housework for some time and also clerked at a department store. She then attended Chicago Moody Bible School Institute from 1939 to 1942. On March 26, 1943 Gert was united in marriage to Herbert Stoebner in Sacramento, California. While Herb served our country during World War II from 1942 to 1946, Gert worked in a department store. Their union was blessed with one son, Darrell, and 54 years of life together. The couple farmed near Tripp, South Dakota from 1946 to 1953, and Lakefield, Minnesota from 1953 to 1961. They later moved to Slayton, Minnesota, where Gert worked at a variety store until she and Herb bought the Gamble Store in Balaton, Minnesota in 1964. They operated the store until 1973. She then worked at the Colonial Manor nursing home in Balaton until she retired in 1984. Following retirement, the couple made their home in Tyler, Minnesota. In 1997, Herb passed away. Gert continued living at their home until Saturday, April 28, 2007 when she passed away at Divine Providence Nursing Home in Ivanhoe, Minnesota at the age of 93 years, eight months, and 25 days.
Gertrude was a member of the Alliance Church in Tyler, where she was active in the Women?s Group. She was a strong prayer partner for the church and the people in the church. She held a passion for helping others through prayer and her letter-writing ministry for many years. For over 35 years, Gert and Herb enjoyed traveling to the Spencer Fair in Iowa. Gert enjoyed gardening, canning, and reading books and her Bible. She especially enjoyed camping and fishing with her grandchildren.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Darrell and his wife Andi of Jay, Maine; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Jessica Stoebner of Tampa, Florida, Boe Stoebner and his wife Chris and their daughter, Spencer of Des Moines, Iowa, Roger Stoebner and his wife Trish and their son, Dylan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Josh Stoebner of Brookings, South Dakota; one sister, Christine Finck of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, John Kiehlbauch of Titusville, Florida; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb; her parents; two brothers, Walter and Ruben Kiehlbauch; and two sisters, Hilda Dewald and Esther Longley.

She preceded in death by her husband, Herb; two brothers, Walter and Ruben Kiehlbauch and two sisters, Hilda Dewald and Esther Longley.

April 4, 2012 Paul Douglas Reiss, 70, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Paul was a communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He was a Eucharistic minister and helped the church in many ways, serving at the food pantry and in the Rosary Society. In May, he was to be commissioned in the Ministry of Pastoral Care at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Mr. Reiss served in the U.S.M.C. and was in Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the Naval Gunfire Liaison Team. Paul was honorably discharged 1964 as a corporal. He received a degree in chemical technology from OCC in 1967. Paul was employed at Allied Chemical as a research technician over 12 years. He also volunteered at the American Red Cross. Paul enjoyed his family, taking candid photos and was an avid sports fan who followed Cleveland and Syracuse teams. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Edward H. and Virginia B. (Radziszewski) Reiss, and is survived by daughters Jennifer (Nicholas) Defio of Syracuse and Ann (Thomas) Horth of North Syracuse; grandchildren Nicky, Julie, Ally and Justin; sisters Sharon Meddley of Virginia and Margot (Richard) Cole of Hannibal; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hollis Funeral Home, 1105 West Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13204. Funeral services are 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hollis Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, followed by burial with military honors at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lakeland.
