  [S927] Obituary. Ruben Bertsch EATON, Colo. -- Ruben Bertsch, age 86, of Eaton, Colorado, died December 15, 2004, at Life Care Center in Greeley, Colorado. He was born at home on June 3, 1918, in Freeman, SD, to Emanuel and Henrietta (Stolher) Bertsch. He was the 3rd child of 15 and was the 1st son. He grew up at Freeman (Farm) SD On February 11, 1945, he married Hattie Stoebner. They moved to Forbes, ND, where he farmed and did carpenter work. In May 1967, they moved to Loveland, CO, where he built his home on Horseshoe Lake. He worked as a carpenter in Loveland for 4 years and then went to work at Kodak, where he retired in 1983. Hattie passed away on July 4, 1978. Ruben then married A. Ruth Gann on June 2, 1979. He was very active in church activities and was a member of the Peace Reformed Church in Loveland and the Grace Reformed Church in Greeley. Ruben loved his garden and roses. He enjoyed his carpentry work and building dog houses. He enjoyed his family and liked to travel. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Bertsch of Eaton; daughter: Myra Criswell (Manard) of Loveland; sons: Richard (Darlene) Gann of Eaton and Larry (Sandy) Gann of Eaton; sisters: Leontina McKay of Cherokee, IA; Linda Bell of Hutchison, KS; Ida Doyle of Yankton, SD; brothers: Gideon Bertsch of Menno, SD; Lorenz Bertsch of Loveland, CO; Edward Bertsch of Tennessee; Leroy Bertsch of Arizona; 4 grandchildren: Melvin Criswell, Mark Criswell, Tammy Cussins and Tom Gann; 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Hattie; son, Gerald Lee; a daughter, Marlys May; 4 sisters, 3 brothers, 3 great-grandchildren Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stoddard Funeral Home, Greeley.
