Rose Kautzman Rose Kautzman, 88, Mandan, died Dec. 9, 2001, at her residence. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. 1 - Rose Kautzman a Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. Rose Gratz was born April 4, 1913, at Crown Butte, N.D., the daughter of Alois and Mathilda (Kary) Gratz. She attended school in the Judson area and helped on the family farm. She married Joseph H. Kautzman on Jan. 12, 1931, at the St. Vincent's Church of Crown Butte. They farmed in the rural Crown Butte area from 1931 to 1956. They then moved to Bismarck, and in 1957, they moved to Mandan. They have lived In Mandan for the past 44 years. Rose was a wonderful cook, no one ever went home hungry from her house. She loved to crochet and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Joe and Rose celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. She is survived by her husband, Joseph, Mandan; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Wilbert and Dolores, Fargo, Ervin, Bismarck, Raymond and Darlene, Mandan, James and Veronica, Arvada, Colo., and Dennis and Sheila, Port Huron, Mich.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beatrice and Peter Mosbrucker, New Salem, and Esther and Ray Yantzer and Eileen and Kenneth Otto, all of Mandan, 28 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Helen Gratz, Valley City, June Gratz, Mandan, and Ada Gratz, Puyallup, Wash.; and five sisters and one brother-in-law, Johanna Seidl, Firecrest, Wash., Beatrice Zander, Minnie Schiff and Ida Hatzenbuhler, all of Mandan, and Anna and Jack Stroh, Spokane, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents; three infant sons, Thomas, Donald and Joseph; one daughter-in-law, Frances Kautzman; four brothers and one sister-in-law, George Gratz, John and Betty Gratz, Anton (Tony) Gratz and Jack Gratz; and four brothers-in-law, John Seidl, Anton Zander, Frank Schiff and John Hatzenbuhler. The family would like to thank MCI Hospice (especially all the nurses and aides), Dr. Dale Klein and Father Patrick for all their caring and support.
