She also attended school there.Leona was united in marriage to Gerhard Dittus on July 1, 1953. She and Gerhard lived and worked on the farm until they retired and moved to Lehr in 1993. Leona resided at her home in Lehr until her death.Leona enjoyed baking and would read her collection of cookbooks looking for new recipes. She insisted on making enough cakes, cookies, and homemade buns to send home with family. Leona enjoyed caring for all her different flowers. She grew a large garden with a variety of vegetables which were canned. Her pickles were especially popular with family and friends.Leona is survived by her daughter, Lyla (Milo) Thompson of Bismarck, ND; two grandchildren, Rachelle (Darin Vrem) Littau of Boise, ID and Jonathan (Shawtee) Littau of Bismarck; and three great-grandchildren.Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerhard (8-14-2019); daughter, Deborah; son-in-law, LeRoy Littau; two sisters, Delores Guthmiller and Marvelene Carlson, and one brother, Elmer Rudolf.Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
