"Sis" Winkler, 89, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Autumn Ages in Fountaintown.She was born Feb. 3, 1924, to John Beyer Sr. and Bertha (Runnebohm) Beyer in Shelbyville. She married Kenneth Winkler on March 25, 1944, and he survives.Other survivors include seven children, Rick (wife, Linda) Winkler, Penny (husband, Ray) Bush, Angie (husband, Gene) Jones, Tony (wife, Cindy) Winkler, Becky (husband, Randy) Haulk, Peggy (husband, Steve) McCracken and Jackie Jones, all of Shelbyville; two brothers, Jim E. (wife, Rose) Beyer of Shelbyville and Walt (wife, Freda) Beyer of Texas; two sisters, Norma (husband, Warren) Browning of Shelbyville and Wanda (husband, Jack) Hewitt of Waldron; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Robert "Shorty," John Jr., Charles and Daniel Beyer; and one sister, Charlene Beyer.Mrs. Winkler was a lifetime resident of the area. She graduated from Waldron High School in 1942. She was a homemaker and owner and operator of Kenny's Frostop Drive In from 1959 to 1975.She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and St. Anne's Altar Society.Sis enjoyed her family, golfing, dancing and playing slot machines. She had a very contagious laugh, and in the words of her grandkids, "Grandma was a good cooker."Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176. The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating.Burial will be at St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby Senior Services in care of the funeral home.
