After retirement from Life of Virginia, he went into business with his son, Peter, 19 years ago at Gelati Celesti Ice Cream. He was a member of Hermitage Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bette Edmonds; four sons, John Creegan Edmonds III and his wife, Gail of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Greg Edmonds of California, Steve Edmonds of California, and Peter Edmonds and wife, Cindy of Maidens, Va.; three grandchildren, Taylor and Travis Edmonds of Colorado, and Laurel Creegan Edmonds of Maidens, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary(TM)s Catholic Church Building Fund, 9505 Gayton Rd. or ALS Association, Lou Gehring (TM)s Disease.
