Bio: Community leader dies of bee stings.Owosso - Robert C. "Bob" Graham executive director of the Owosso-Corunna Area Chamber of Commerce died last Sunday morning. He suffered a heart attack that resulted from multiple bee stings [apx 60 stings]. Reports indicate that Graham, 71, was working in his yard when he uncovered a ground nest of yellow jackets. Funeral services were held Thursday morning and Graham was laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery.Originally from Jeannette, Pa., Graham has long been known for his activities in Owosso. A member of the St. Johns United Church of Christ, Graham was also the executive director of the Shiawassee Tourism Council. He was past president of the Kiwanis Club of Owosso, an organization where he was also well known as chairman of the Travelogue series. He was also on the board of directors of Kiwanis Village and the Fairwinds Girl Scout Council.For 25 years, he was the general manager of a firm engaged in graphic arts, printing, advertising and public relations. He also served in office administration at John Wesley College for three and a half years and was executive director of the GLS Region V Planning and Development Commission for 14 years.He has been the executive vice president at the chamber since 1991. Graham was hailed as the driving force behind the newly formed Coalition on Unified Economic Strategy, which is the joining of the chamber with 10 other organizations dedicated to furthering the economic stability of the area. During World War 2, Graham served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 at the European Theater Headquarters in Paris.He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Martha, as well as four daughters and four grand children.
