William Himmelspach, 84, passed away peacefully on June 14th, 2019 at Sunset Care Center in Mandan, ND.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday June 21, 2019, at Ascension Catholic Church, 1825 S. 3rd Street, Bismarck, ND. Visitation will be at Bismarck Funeral Home, 3723 Lockport Street, Bismarck on Thursday, June 20, from 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Bill was born December 2, 1934 at home in Center, ND to George and Eva (Schneider) Himmelspach. He grew up in rural Center and attended country school. Bill farmed with his parents until retirement. He did a wonderful job of caring for his father, George, until his death in 1974. In 1978 he moved to Bismarck where he met the love of his life, Josephine Buchholtz. They were married April 12, 1979.
Bill and Josie enjoyed traveling in their motor home and later spending winters in Phoenix, playing cards and dancing. Bill enjoyed fishing and yard work at their lake home at Beaver Bay near Linton, ND. He was the "handiest" of handymen and loved to fix anything that was asked of him. He loved going to rummage and auction sales and finding the best deals. He was an avid Twins fan and they traveled to the cites to see them play.
He is survived by Josie, his wife of 40 years, his stepchildren, Deb Bogert, Kenneth (Jen) Buchholtz, Marlon (Vivian) Buchholtz, Denise O'Grady, step-grandchildren, Guy, Brandon, Dwight, Daniel and Lauren Buchholtz, his brothers, Dave (Linda) Himmelspach, Battle Lake, MN; Gene (Lyla) Himmelspach, Mandan, ND; and sister, Irene Kraft, Bismarck, ND. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eva, his sister, Monica (Joe Schmidt), brother, Joe Himmelspach (Liz), stepson, Terry Buchholtz and step-granddaughter, Tawni O'Grady.
Bill was a kind and gentle man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends, his McDonald's buddies and special friend Dave Bjornson.,
