GLODE, Charles J. 5 Charles J. Glode, Sr., 94, of Manchester, beloved husband of 69 years of Ruth M. (Deskis) Glode passed away Thursday, (February 4, 2010) at his home. Charles was born in Manchester, January 15, 1916, son of the late John and Margaret (Damroth) Glode and was a lifelong resident. Prior to retiring, Charles was employed for more than 45 years at the former Meyer & Mendelsohn Tobacco Company, Buckland. He enjoyed working outside at home in his gardens and was an avid hunter. In addition to his beloved wife, Ruth, he is survived by his loving family, daughter, Ruth Stanford, three sons, Charles J. Glode, Jr. and his wife, Laurie; Raymond Glode and his wife, Ann; Steven Glode and his wife, Joyce; six grandsons, two granddaughters, seven great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews and their families. Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by two sons, Robert and Bruce and eight brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester, followed with burial in St. Mary Cemetery East Hartford. Family and friends may call prior to the service on Monday, Feb. 8, from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to, Hospice co Visiting Nurse & Health Services 8 Keynote Drive Vernon, CT 06066 andor St. Bridget School; Advancement Office 74 Main Street Manchester, CT 06042.
