Robert J. Gar
LEWISTOWN -- Robert J. Gar, 1, son of Dee Fassbender and Brian Gar of Lewistown, died of a congenital intestinal disorder Monday at a Lewistown hospital. His funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at Cloyd Funeral Chapel, with burial at Babyland in Lewistown City Cemetery. In addition to his parents, he survived by a stepbrother, Cody Fassbender of Lewistown; and grandparents Bob and Kathy Fink of Roy, Mont., and Marlene Teske of Watford City, N.D. He was born July 22, 2003, in Great Falls. Friends are asked to make memorials to the Central Montana Medical Center Pediatrics or the charity of their choice, and they may be left at the funeral home.

LEWISTOWN, Mont. - Funeral services for Robert James Gar, 13 1/2-month-old son of Dena (Teske) Fassbender and Brian Gar, were held Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at the Cloyd Chapel, Lewistown. The Rev. Kenneth Loss of New Life Assembly of God Church officiated and interment followed in Baby Land of the Lewistown City Cemetery.
Robert was born July 22, 2003, in Great Falls. He was hospitalized in NICU of Benefis East Hospital from birth until Sept. 7. He was then flown to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City where he remained until Nov. 20. While there Robert was diagnosed with a rare congenital intestinal disorder called hyperganglionosis.
When Robert returned to Lewistown, he was cared for at home, but was hospitalized frequently. In June 2004 he was evaluated for a small bowel/liver transplant at the Pittsburgh Children's Hospital. He was then placed on a transplant waiting list.
Robert had recently been hospitalized in Lewistown due to an infection. Because of complications, he was being transported Sept. 13 by Lifeflight to Salt Lake City when he died. He was baptized during the flight.
Robert went through many struggles in his short life and touched many hearts. He will be remembered for his sweet smiles, precious giggles, and love of "peek-a-boo baby." Robert and brother, Cody, developed a close bond. Cody was good at keeping Robert entertained and could always bring a smile to his face.
Robert is survived by his parents, Dena Fassbender and Brian Gar, both of Lewistown; half brother, Cody Fassbender of Lewistown; and grandparents, Bob and Kathie Fink of Roy, Mont.; and Marlene Teske of Watford City, N.D.
