Bio: "Derek A. Fleck, 19, Solen, died Jan. 15, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, both at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. Derek was born on June 7, 1978, in Bismarck, to Emanuel and Kathleen (Kirsch) Fleck. He was raised and educated in Flasher, graduating from Flasher High School in 1996. He was presently attending Bismarck State College, majoring in business administration. Derek also worked part time at Bismarck State College. During his spare time, he loved to read about the history of the United States and North Dakota. Derek loved basketball, his collection of cars, history, and enjoyed doing farm work. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen, Solen; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Emanuel and Linda, Bismarck, and William and Amy, Mandan; and one sister, Colette Fleck, Solen; one niece, Amanda; and two nephews, Brandon and William. He was preceded in death by his father, Emanuel; and his grandparents.
