Bio: Lynn Henry Lutgen was born December 27, 1943 to Alfred and Arline (Bender) Lutgen at Valley City, North Dakota. He was the second of five children. He graduated from LaMoure High School in 1961. In 1966, he married Judith E. Bockwoldt of LaMoure. Lynn earned his Bachelors degree in Vocational Agriculture from North Dakota State University in 1967. He taught Vocational Agriculture at Medina High School and Bisbee High School. He obtained his Master's degree in 1973 from North Dakota State University and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1976. After receiving his Ph.D. Lynn was appointed to the position of Professor of Agriculture Economics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He served in this position until his retirement in 2006 at which time he was honored by both the Government of the United States of America and the University of Nebraska for 30 years of loyal and dedicated service. Since 1976, Lynn served as a marketing and international programs specialist in the agricultural economics department. His involvement in cooperative development led him to locations around the world. Most recently, to Russia and the Ukraine, where he participated in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Commercial Agriculture Development Project. For the past six years, he also served as director overseeing a faculty exchange program for professors to come from these countries and participate in learning opportunities at the University of Nebraska. Throughout his career, Lynn received many honors and recognition for his excellence in the field of agricultural economics. In addition, he was a member of the Honorary Scholastical Society, Omicron Delta Epsilon, Phi Beta Delta, and Gamma Sigma Delta. In 2003, he was appointed Executive Director of the Nebraska Cooperative Development Center (NCDC). As executive director, Lynn was responsible for helping new agribusiness groups develop business plans, conduct feasibility studies, and obtain special training. Lynn died Monday, January 22, 2007 at his home in LaMoure. He was 63 years old. Lynn is survived by two daughters, April and Julie of Chicago, IL; former wife, Judy of Lincoln, NE; mother, Arline of LaMoure, ND: two brothers David (Cathie) of Enderlin, ND and Allan (Sue) of LaMoure, ND; two sisters, Donna (John) Swenson of Perham, MN and Rosalie (Allyn) Svor of Phoenix, AZ. His father, Alfred Lutgen, preceded him in death. The funeral for Lynn Henry Lutgen, of LaMoure, North Dakota will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in LaMoure, with Father William Callery officiating. Burial will be at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers for the funeral will be David Swenson, Ralph Greer, Matthew Lutgen, Andrew Lutgen, Walter Bockwoldt, Ryan Bockwoldt, and Blake Bockwoldt.Arrangements by Dahlstrom Funeral Home.

The funeral for Lynn Henry Lutgen, of LaMoure, North Dakota will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in LaMoure, with father William Callery officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 3 to 7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home in LaMoure. Burial will be at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
Lynn Henry Lutgen was born December 27, 1943 to Alfred and Arline (Bender) Lutgen at Valley City, North Dakota. He was the second of five children. He graduated from LaMoure High School in 1961. In 1966, he married Judith E. Bockwoldt of LaMoure.
