Redig, 86, formerly of the town of Farmington, died on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 at the health care center of Cedar Community in the town of West Bend. He was born on June 22, 1919 in Slinger to the late Philip [J. Redig, 1887-1967] and Elizabeth (nee Speeter) Redig [1893-1920]. Ed grew up in Slinger, attending local schools and graduated from Slinger High School. After high school, he worked at the West Bend Co. On May 24, 1941, Ed was united in marriage to June M. Nehm at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Nabob. June passed away May 1, 2004. In 1944, he entered the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Following his discharge, he returned to Washington County. In 1948, Ed and his wife purchased a farm in the town of Farmington, which he operated until retiring in 1984. In 1963, he was awarded the Washington County Outstanding Conservationist Award from the Kewaskum Kiwanis Club. Ed was a member of St. Michael's Parish, where he sang in the choir for many years. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Barbara Ann Redig and a brother, Fr. Andrew Redig. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 8877 Forestview Road in St. Michaels (Kewaskum). Father Robert Artmann will be the presider and burial will be in the parish cemetery on Thursday at 10 a.m. Visitation will be at the church only on Wednesday from 4:30 until 6:15 p.m. The family has requested memorials to the Cedar Community Foundation for the benefit of Friendship House.
