The funeral for Tony Sperle, Napoleon, ND was held Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery.
Tony Sperle son of John and Margaret (Becker) was born May 24, 1934 near St. Anthony south of Napoleon, ND. The family moved to a farm 4 miles from Napoleon, ND. Tony attended rural school at Shell Butte School and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1951. Tony farmed with his brother Pete for a few years and then went on his own raising grains and ranched raising Registered Simmental Cattle. Tony was united in marriage to Sonja Marie Banish on June 7, 1972 at Napoleon, ND. They made their home in rural Napoleon where he continued to farm. He served on the Bryant Township Board, Napoleon School Board, St. Philip Neri Catholic Church Council, Napoleon Care Center and the Farm Service Board. Tony was a shy and caring man, but helped the Lord's work by being a lecturer at the church. Tony retired from farming in 1996 but continued to help his son Charles on the farm. Sonja passed away in 2001. Tony was united in marriage to Christine Gross on July 8, 2006 at Jamestown, ND. They lived in Napoleon. Tony entered the Napoleon care Center in 2015 and in November of 2015 he entered the St. Vincent care Center at Bismarck, ND.
Tony died December 3, 2016 at St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck, ND. He was 82 years old.
Tony is survived by his wife, Christine Sperle, Napoleon, ND; daughter, Sarah (Jeff) Lundeen, Napoleon, ND; grandson, Mark Miesen, Napoleon, ND; stepchildren, Francita Lampert, Berthoud, CO; Verna (Dennis) Rademacher, Thorton, CO; Jerry (Bonnie) Gross, Owasso, OK; Jacinta (Bob) Piatz, Jamestown, ND; Jody (Terry) Draeger, Anchorage, AK; Clem Jr. (Pam) Gross, Napoleon, ND; Christine Kimberling, Reno, CO; Bob (Lisa) Gross, Lakewood, CO; Theresa (Tony) Bruno, Reno, NV; Keith (Tina) Gross, Bismarck, ND and Kevin (Lori) Gross, Bismarck, ND; brother, Richard (Harriet) Sperle, Mendota Heights, MN; one sister, Ann (Eugene) Cederberg, Casselton, ND; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Betty, Napoleon, ND and Theresa, Monterey, CA. He was preceded in death by first wife, Sonja Marie, son, Charles, parents, John and Margaret, eight brothers and one sister.
