Bio: Sylvia Ann "Sibby Ann" Steimel, 65, of Harriman, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, in Baptist West Hospital, Knoxville.A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she moved in the 1940s from Tennessee to Michigan with her parents, who were looking for jobs. She and her husband raised their family in Troy, Mich., and the couple relocated to Harriman in 1991. Her children referred to her as Trixy because she was fun loving and young at heart. She was loved by anyone who had the privilege of knowing her.She was preceded in death by son, Robert Nitz; sister, Charlene Luberda; brother, William Byrd; and parents, Ollie and Mildred Byrd.Survivors include her husband, Alfred D. "Danny" Steimel, whom she married on June 26, 1965; daughters and sons-in-law, Danielle and Oscar Anderson of Kingston and Patricia and Leonard Demers of Harriman; sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas Nitz, Ronald and Brooke Steimel and Roger Nitz, all of Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Mike Galvin of Brighton, Mich.; grandchildren, Daniel Frazier, David Frazier, Anthony Frazier, Michelle Williams, Travis Hoskins, Erica Nitz, Brandon Nitz, Keenan Steimel and Sydney Steimel; and three great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in Kyker Funeral Home, Kingston. Funeral service will follow in the chapel, with the Rev. Kyle Beverly officiating. Graveside service and burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Sugar Grove Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Harriman.An online register is available at www.kykerfuneralhome.com.
