Birth: Oct. 18, 1916 Morton County North Dakota, USA Death: Sep. 27, 2011 Bismarck Burleigh County North Dakota, USA Obituary Buehler-Larson Funeral (September 28, 2011) Magdalen Friedig, 94, Mandan, formerly of Center, died September 27, 2011 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with Reverend Shane Campbell celebrating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Parish Rosary / Vigil at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Magdalen was born October 18, 1916 in Crown Butte, ND to Peter and Josephine (Ferderer) Hoffman. She attended school through the eighth grade. On July 19, 1938 she married Joseph Friedig in Center. Magdalen worked in the office of the Oliver County Assessor for four years. They farmed southeast of Center. In 1974 they moved to Mandan. A talented green thumb, she liked gardening. She was also a wonderful cook and baker. Playing cards, especially shmear and pinochle, was something she always enjoyed. Giving of her time, Magdalen was active in her church, Women of the Moose, and the Center Altar Society. A kind and caring woman, Magdalen will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Blessed to have shared her life are two daughters, Marie (Wilbert) Mosbrucker and Shirley (Edward) Hilzendeger, all of Center; two sons, Raymond (Elizabeth) Friedig and Duane (Leona) Friedig, all of Bismarck; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lakey Weiss, Bismarck and Katherine Pershke, Center; and one brother, Leo Hoffman, Texas. Magdalen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph, in August 2006; 2 sisters, and one brother.
