Metz, 82, of McComb, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hartley Funeral Home, McComb, the Rev. Tom Hoover officiating. Burial will be in McComb Union Cemetery, Visitation will be held from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Metz died at 8 p.m. Sunday at his residence. He was born May 1, 1906 in Tuscola, Ill., to Joseph and Martha (Grisamore) Metz. He married Vesta Butler on Nov. 3, 1928, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, John of McComb; Fred of Falls Church, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Betty) Engle, Toledo; Shirley Metz, of Luther Home of Mercy, Williston; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Martha Moomey, Helen Perkins and Mrs. William (Ruth) Butler, all of Findlay. Mr. Metz was a retired farmer. He was a 1924 graduate of McComb High School, and a member of Portage Chapel United Methodist Church and the McComb Rotary Club, of which he was past president. He was a former Pleasant Township Trustee and a former member of the Ohio Cattlemen's Association. He was a past member of the board of directors of People's Banking Co., McComb. He also had been a member, from 1952-1958, of the board of directors of Hancock-Wood Electric Co-Op, which he served as secretary-treasurer from 1953-1957 and as president from 1957-1958. Memorials may be made to the church of to the Luther Home of Mercy, Williston.
