Birth: Aug. 21, 1921 Cope Washington County Colorado, USA Death: Nov. 1, 2012 Springfield Lane County Oregon, USA Walter Clements SPRINGFIELD — The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Springfield for Walter R. Clements of Springfield, who died Nov. 1 of age-related causes. He was 91. Visitation will be at noon Friday at the funeral home. He was born Aug. 21, 1921, in Cope, Colo., to James and Laura Crawford Clements. He married Catherine C. Hecker on Feb. 21, 1946, in Eugene. She died July 23, 2008. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked in a Civilian Conservation Corps camp before the war. He worked in the woods for a short time for Booth Kelley and then worked in the plywood mill for Georgia Pacific, retiring in 1983. Survivors include a son, Marvin of Springfield; a daughter, Shirley Flores of Springfield; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son, James Clements, died in August 1967. Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
