Meuchel, 76, of Missoula, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at St Patrick Hospital. She was born Sept. 12, 1931, in Glen Ullin, N.D., to John and Mary Tkach Renner. Eleanor graduated from grade school in Glen Ullin. She then attended high school until contracting rheumatic fever. On Oct. 17, 1950, Eleanor married Anton Meuchel at St. Joe Church, south of Glen Ullin. For the first 12 years of their marriage, Eleanor was a stay-at-home mother. Tony's occupation in construction found them moving to different North Dakota towns. Four children were born during this period. In 1957, Eleanor and Tony headed west to Oregon, stopping in Missoula. They never left. In 1960, their last son was born. Eleanor began working outside the home in 1962, holding many different positions in the food industry. She worked for the Pizza Oven, Sharief Pizza, Super Save Bakery and the 4B's Crossroads restaurant, retiring in 1993. During her life, she had many hobbies. She enjoyed baking, cake decorating, crocheting, crafting, and feeding family and friends. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Good Sams and St. Francis Xavier Church. Ellie had a joy for life. She loved to laugh and dance, and always joined in on the fun. She was known for telling jokes and humorous stories of life that she never forgot. What a lot of fun she was! Eleanor leaves behind loved ones that include her beloved husband, Anton; daughter, Patricia (Rick) Flink of Whitefish; sons, Dennis (Mary) Meuchel, Donald (Brenda) Meuchel, Dean Meuchel and girlfriend Mary Kay, all of Missoula, and Duane (Amy) Meuchel of Scappoose, Ore.; grandchildren, Richard (Michonne) Flink, Ronald (Samantha) Flink, Mathew Meuchel, Melanie Meuchel, Jasmine (Tadd) Olson, Rochelle (Tom) Benton, Kevin Meuchel, Tracy Meuchel, Stephen Meuchel, Emma Lee (Marcus) Starr and Annie Meuchel; and 13 great-grandchildren. Additional loved ones include her sister, Alice (Roy) Thomas of Missoula; three brothers, Lawrence Renner, Edward (Theresa) Renner and James (Theresa) Renner, all of Glen Ullin; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anna; and brother, Ernest. Burial will be at the new St. Mary's Cemetery.
