Birth: Dec. 13, 1921 Guymon Texas County Oklahoma, USA Death: Feb. 14, 2007 Pueblo Pueblo County Colorado, USA Saturday, February 17, 2007 Pueblo Chieftain William N. "Bill" Chappell passed away peacefully in his home on Feb. 14, 2007. Bill was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Guymon, Okla. After graduating in 1940, Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for four years, nine months and 18 days. From 1948 to 1950, he farmed and worked for the Rio Grande Railroad. In 1950, he joined the CF&I as a laborer and in 1953, he became foreman of the Coupling Shop and Heat Treating Unit in the Tube Mill before retiring in 1983. He spent his retirement years enjoying his family, fishing, hunting, woodworking and "tinkering" in the garage. He was preceded in death by his mother, three brothers, and many close friends. His survivors include his wife of 59 years and eight months, Elsie; two sons, Mike (Judy), Pat (Patti); granddaughter, Michelle (Jay); great-grandchildren, Cassie and Jacob; two sisters, Loretta and Lena (Elmer); sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Gene) and Okema; as well as many special nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation for Mr. Chappell will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the mortuary. Funeral service, 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, Davis Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Rick Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery with Masonic Burial Rites provided by South Pueblo Lodge No. 31 AF&AM. The family expresses special thanks to granddaughter, Michelle, for her constant care and compassion. The family suggests that contributions in memory of Bill be made to South Pueblo Lodge No. 31 AF&AM.
