Birth: Sep. 25, 1841, Germany Death: May 3, 1914 Martins Ferry Belmont County Ohio, USA Son of Philip Jacob Retzer and Maria Katherina GRIMM, he was christened October 30, 1841, Rumbach, Bayern, Germany. Note: his first wife Mary died in a house fire in their home on the Island, April 5, 1880. They had two sons John and Henry who both died in Feb 1860 of scarlet fever. Another son Henry W. born 1861 opened a tea shop in 1894 on Market St. He was residing with wife Alice CLINE (married 1884 Ohio WV) in Washington, District of Columbia in 1940. Their son Robert born 1890 WV is living with them, single, works for US Navy Dept. He married Maria "Lyons" December 5, 1880 Wheeling, Ohio, West Virginia. However her death certificate gives maiden name spelled 'Lenz'. Fred was a glassworker at LaBelle Glassworks. J.J.C Retzer was informant on his death certificate.
