Beloved wife of the late Robert Elwood Stephens; daughter of the late Edward and Florence Nicolaus; sister of Betty Nicolaus Gray, and preceded in death by siblings, Wendel K. Nicolaus, Edward A. Nicolaus, Jr., and Jeanne Nicolaus Caywood. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was a native Sacramentan, aged 91 years. She was a fourth generation descendent of CA Pioneers. Her great grandfather arrived from Pennsylvania in 1848 aboard the "Osceola", on a six month journey around Cape Horn. She graduated from the University of Berkeley and was affiliated with the Kappa Kappa Gamma National Sorority. She was an early member of the Sacramento Junior League. In 1955 she and her husband retired to Carmel for 14 years. At the death of her husband, she returned to Carmichael in 1996, and resided there until her passing. A private gravesite will be held at the family plot in Sacramento City Cemetery. Remembrances in her honor may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. W.F.
