WoodardRetired Head CookADAMS CENTER -- Hazel K. Woodard, 87, of 18094 Sandy Lane, died early today at Genesis Health-Care, Watertown. Mrs. Woodard worked at the former Jefferson County Sanitarium, laterknown as the Jefferson County Home, Watertown, for 34 years, retiringin 1965 as head cook. Born Dec. 1, 1909, in the Lewis County town of Montague, daughter of Pearyl and Estella Hamblin Waite, she attended local schools. She hadlived in the Barnes Corners area for 20 years, moving to Adams Centerin 1980.Marriages to Wilbur W. Kling and Kent R. Woodard ended in divorce. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Elizabeth) Kastner-Mulliger,Rochester, and Mrs. Paul (Edwina "Pat") Kling-Leary, Clay; a stepson,Kent R. Woodard, Hastings; a sister, Gladys Dobbins, Honeyville; fivegrandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, fivenieces and three nephews. Twin sons, Floyd E. and Francis E. Kling; two brothers, Frank and DeWitt Waite; and a sister, Mae Waite, died before her. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Piddock Funeral Home,Adams, with the Rev. Donald Easton, pastor of Adams United MethodistChurch, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Rodman. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at thefuneral home. Mr. Mulliger is survived by his wife of 71 years, Doris Callahan Mulliger of Little River; three sons, Gary Mulliger (Carol) of Little River, Rodney Mulliger (Helen) of AZ, Ralph Mulliger of FL; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
