  [S927] Obituary. Obituary for Benjamin Ketterling The Rev. Benjamin Ketterling, age 90, of Willmar, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 22, at Rice Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Feb. 26, at Church of the Nazarene in Willmar. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Military honors are provided by the Willmar American Legion Post. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. The Rev. Benjamin Ketterling was born on August 12, 1920, on the family farm in Wishek, North Dakota, the son of Peter and Lydia (Just) Ketterling. He received his education in country school and in 1933, the family moved to a farm near LaMoure where he grew up. In 1942, Benjamin was called to the service of his country. He served in the U.S. Army as a Surgical Technician in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater until his discharge in 1945. On June 22, 1948, Benjamin was united in marriage to Esther Martin in Forbes, North Dakota. They lived in LaMoure where he worked as a mechanic at LaMoure Implement for 15 years. In 1960, Benjamin was called into the ministry. He served congregations in Tuttle and Oakes, North Dakota. In 1970, they moved to Minnesota to serve the Willmar and Red Wing Nazarene Churches. In 1983, he retired and they returned to Willmar. Since August of 2007, Benjamin has resided at Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home. He is survived by four brothers, Herbert (and Shirley) Ketterling of Greeley, CO., Elmer (and Ruby) Ketterling of Leola, SD., Wilbert Ketterling of Wheaton and Raymond Ketterling of Billings, MT., and five sisters, Esther (and Kenneth) Haugen of Verona, ND, Irene Hildahl of LaMoure, ND., Katherine (and Allen) Hodem of LaMoure, Norma (and Bill) Kale of Aberdeen, SD., and Sara (and Bill) Peterson of Westminster, CO.; two sister-in-laws, Lodeva Ketterling of LaMoure and Marilyn Ketterling of Marion, ND., one brother-in-law, Marvin Hyle of Kingsley, IA., besides other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther in 2000; four brothers, Oscar, Ervin, John and Albert and two sisters, Lenore and Ellen.
