Birth: Mar. 1, 1910 Death: Apr. 30, 1973 Joseph Burkhart, 63, 2204 I Street, Bedford , died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 30, 1973 at the Bedford Medical Center. He was born the son of John and Adelaide Schmidt Burkhart on March 1, 1910 in Bedford. He was a stonecutter and operated the Burkhart Stone and Marble Shop. He was married to Carmella Meno on September 5, 1939 in Bedford . He was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Bedford and of the German Stonecutters Association of Indiana. Surviving are the widow, Carmella; a son, Joseph Burkhart, Jr., of Huntington ; a daughter, Mrs. Edward Ellison of Wichita , Kansas ; five sisters, Mrs. Walter Inman of Bedford , Mrs. Jane Neumeister of Bedford, Mrs. Louis Liva of Mishawaka , Mrs. Fred Hutton of Kingstown, Tennessee and Mrs. William Harvey of Bedford . Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Koopman officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford . Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford . A scripture lesson will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
