MERRITTS Mrs. Merritts, 82, of 510 26th Ave. died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1985, in Altoona Hospital, after a brief illness. Mrs. Merritts retired as a registered nurse in 1952. She was born Dec. 30, 1907, in Altoona, the daughter of Morgan J. and Matilda M. (Gable) Gill, and married Chalmer L. Merritts, who died April 17, 1979. Surviving are four brothers and sisters: William L. of Harrisburg, Elizabeth Taughenbaugh of York, James M. of Altoona and M. Pauline Zugay of Middletown. Mrs. Merritts was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. There will be no viewing. Arrangements by Stevens Mortuary. MERRITTS - The funeral of Bernice M. Merritts of 510 26th Ave. will be held with a mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Therese Catholic Church. Entombment in Calvary Mausoleum. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, kindly contribute to the American Cancer Society. A sister, Ena Merritts of Camp Hill, preceded her in death. Arrangements by Stevens Mortuary Inc.
