Paul A. Hauck, 92, Richardton, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Richardton Health Center, Richardton.
Paul's Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richardton, with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant.
Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Richardton American Legion Theo R. Zech Post 180.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the church. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Paul Alex Hauck was born October 19, 1921 at Richardton, the son of Alex and Matilda (Berger) Hauck. He was raised on the family farm north of Richardton, the 4th of 13 children. He attended the Germania District #4 country school.
He joined the CCCs in 1937 and served in the Watford City area.
Paul was working on the family farm when he received his draft notice in 1942. In entered the United States Army and served honorably with the 50th Engineer Co. C during WWII until 1945.
Paul was united in marriage to Magdalena Staudinger on June 11, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. They farmed together for the next 40 years and raised their family of nine, retiring in 1986. The family farmed, milked cows, raised livestock and a big garden every year.
He belonged to the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, raising miniature horses and building tin men.
Paul is survived by his wife, Magdalena; eight children, Carolyn (Daryl) Jurgens, Taylor, Richard (Linda) Hauck, Dickinson, Marilyn (David) Marx, Dickinson, Gladys (Ben) Schwehr, Kennewick, Wash., Dwight (Susie) Hauck, Auburn, Wash., Glenn (Suzie) Hauck, Richardton, David (Laurie) Hauck, Richardton, and Bryan (Carmen) Hauck, Gillette, Wyo.; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Betty Travato, Seminole, Fla., Hildegard Dewald, Canada, Emma Huschka, Minot, Leonard (Alice) Hauck, Seminole, Fla., and Norbert (Shirley) Hauck, Chicago, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Tillie Hauck, Dorothy Miller, and Martha Hauck, all of Dickinson; son-in-law, Val Bosch, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death his parents; five brothers, Leo, William, Anton, George, and Ben; two sisters, Sally and Katie; and a daughter, Paulette Bosch.
