Arnold, 83, of Ohio 676, Waterford, Ohio, died Wednesday (June 2, 2010) at his home. He was born Jan. 6, 1927, at Churchtown, son of Andrew and Louise Schilling Arnold. He retired in 1986 from Marietta Metals in Marietta. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 64 at Marietta, St. John the Baptist Church at Churchtown, and the Holy Name Society. He loved farming and John Deere tractors. He was first married on June 7, 1949, to Hilda Huck Arnold. She died on Sept. 14, 1969. He was later married on Nov. 13, 1971, to Leona Schwendeman Arnold who survives. He is also survived by four sons, Harold Arnold and wife, Karen, of Waterford, Fred Arnold and wife, Cindy, of Marietta, Alvin Arnold and wife, Diane, of Vincent and Pat Arnold and wife, Althea, of Marietta; two daughters, Martha Schwendeman and fiance, Steve Coleman, of Vincent and Karen Biedenbach and husband, Steve, of Surry, Virginia; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Clare Arnold of Waterford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; six brothers, Francis, Vincent, Clarence, Gilbert, Eugene and Herbert Arnold; and two sisters, Hilda Peters and Anna Spindler. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Church at Churchtown with Father Virgil Reischman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Friday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly where a Christian wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John School Foundation, 17784 St. Rt. 676, Marietta 45750 or Marietta Home Health and Hospice, 210 N. 7th. St. Suite 400, Marietta 45750.
