Henry C. Deppe, 70, of 635 West Morgan Street, Swansea, died at 2 a.m. today at his home following an illness of three months. He was a retired carpenter contractor and a former coal miner.
A son of the late Henry and Marie Deppe, nee Limberg, he was born at Roscoe, Pa., September 5, 1894. He married Stella Stoeckel in Springfield July, 15, 1914.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Norman Deppe and his wife, Dena, Leesburg, Fla., a daughter, Virginia, wife of Vernon L. Bailey; five brothers, August Deppe, William Deppe in Colorado, Frank Deppe, Charles Deppe, Edwardsville, and Emil Deppe; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Furtkamp, Staunton, Ill.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Deppe was a charter member of the First Assembly of God Church and a member of Belleville Local 433 of the Carpenters Union.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from Baldus Funeral Home to Valhalla Burial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. R.D. Shaw, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, and the Rev. T.M. Kimberlin, retired pastor of that church.
