He passed away at Greater Community Hospital July 5, 1998 at the age of 79. Harold attended rural schools in the Shannon City area. On May 18, 1940 he was married to Helen Schaffer in Prescott, Iowa. He farmed in the Clearfield area until he retired in 1977 and moved to Creston where he worked for the Larkin Funeral Home for over 20 years. Harold was a member of the First Christian Church in Creston, and the Noble Masonic Lodge #458 A.F. & A.M. where he had served as a Senior Grand Deacon, and a Jr. Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of Iowa. He was also a member of the Cornelia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Services for Harold was held Wednesday July 8, 1998 at the First Christian Church in Creston with Dr. Robert Pickerell officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen in 1992, an infant brother Gaylord and a sister Evelyn Shum. Interment was in the North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Services were provided by the Ritchie Larkin Funeral Home in Creston.
