The service for Herman Hruby, 79, Aberdeen, will be 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Aberdeen with Dr. Harold E. Salem officiating.
Herman died Tuesday, Dec. 16, at his home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday. Herman Hruby was born Aug. 27, 1929, to John and Ksenka (Polonski) Hruby in rural Wilton, N.D. This is where he grew up and helped on the family farm. On Feb. 23, 1957, Herman married Arva Della (Goebel) at Wilton, N.D. Together, they made their home in Bismarck for a short period of time while Herman worked various farming jobs. Herman moved to Aberdeen in 1970, and continued working as a laborer for several different companies. In the early 1980s, Herman moved to Jamestown, N.D., where he began working as a custodian for the hospital. In the late 1980s, Herman moved back to Aberdeen where he continued to make his home. Herman loved fishing, socializing with friends, and spending time with family.
Grateful for having shared Herman's life are his children, Brian Hruby, Aberdeen, Scott (Ursala) Hruby, Austin, Texas, Bradley (Catrina) Hruby, Webster, S.D., Melinda (Larry) Hopfinger, Aberdeen, Karen Hruby, Aberdeen, Donna (Lyle) Hopfinger, Mina, S.D.; sister, Martha Kemmet, Jamestown, N.D.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ksenka Hruby, one son Rodney Hruby.
