Hilda Faul, 98, of Bismarck formerly of Harvey died on Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Baptist Health Care Center in Bismarck.
Funeral services will be held on at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6 at the Cornerstone Community Church South Campus (Formerly the Mennonite Brethren Church) in Harvey.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND with the family greeting visitors from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Graveside services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Country Mennonite Brethren Cemetery, rural Harvey.
Hilda was born on April 29, 1918, the youngest of 11 children born to Ferdinand and Kathrina (Faul) Heizelmann on a farm southwest of Velva, ND. She accepted Christ at the age of 10 through the evangelistic ministry of John Siemens. She was baptized as a teen and joined the Sawyer Mennonite Brethren Church. Hilda served her Lord and Savior by teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and participating in Women’s Missionary Society.
On June 27, 1943, she was married to Leander Faul and moved to Harvey, ND. They had three children, Kathleen, Shirley and Naomi. Hilda and Leander never lived in a house that could not be remodeled. Hilda knocked down many a wall over the years, as well as helping put up new ones. Their final accomplishment was the building of their home south of Harvey in 1977. Over the years, they had company from far and near who were always welcome. She was a loving wife and mother known for her great cooking and baking abilities as well as being an accomplished seamstress and craftswoman.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kathleen Herbel of Hays, KS; Shirley & Don Unrau of Omaha, NE; and Naomi Faul of Bismarck, ND. She also leaves three grandchildren, Jon and Robin Herbel, Justin and Gretchen Unrau, and Ryan and Stacie Unrau; and great grandchildren, Charlie Herbel, Cameron Unrau and Chara Unrau; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Leander, on September 15, 1987, as well as her parents, and son-in-law, Clayton Herbel. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Jake, Julius, William, Ferdinand, Herbert, David; and her sisters, Christine, Pauline, Louisa Beck, and Katie Beck.
Memorials are preferred to Tabor College and Baptist Health Care Center in Bismarck.
