Birth: May 5, 1905 West Olive Ottawa County Michigan, USA Death: Oct. 15, 1992 New Port Richey Pasco County Florida, USA Lester was born in West Olive, Ottawa, Michigan who parents were Lillian Mae Flieman b.1876 d.1945 in Holland Michigan and Frederick Carl Meyer b.1872 in Germany d.1933.in Holland, Michigan. He was the youngest of 4 children and the only one to finish high school and attend collage. He was a bachelor until 31 years old and then he met my mother, who must have swept him off his feet as they married in 1937. Lester's grandfather Jacob Flieman lived with the family later in life and taught him to hunt, fish and trap. He remained an avid fisherman his whole life, mostly fly fishing, while hunting and trapping were stopped early in life. When WWII came along he was too old to join up, but with all the boys going off to war, the factories where looking for good help, so he went to work for Oldsmobile and remained there until he retired. Having lived through the depression, he would never give up a secure job to do what he loved and that was being a coach, even though Audrey encouraged him to go back to college and finish his degree at Western Michigan.
