Birth: Nov. 27, 1921 Fallon Morton County North Dakota, USA Death: Jan. 24, 2001 Roseburg Douglas County Oregon, USA Parents: John and Wilhelmina Hopfauf. Rose was the oldest of nine children. She spent her childhood and early adult life on a farm near Fallon and Bismark, North Dakota. Rose and her children moved to Oregon in 1961. After spending a brief time in Halfway and Baker, Oregon they moved to Roseburg because of employment opportunities from the big blast of 1959. Rose devoted her life in raising her family. Through all of her hard work she was able to share in her happiness as she watched her grandchildren and raise her great- grandchildren. Rose was also devoted to her faith in God. She belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was a past member of the Alter Society. Rose led a very social life and touched many peoples lives with the way she made others feel at ease in her presence. She enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, Bingo and ceramics. Above all, Rose loved spending time with her family and sharing birthdays, holidays and never ending special events. Rose collected angels and her favorite flower was naturally a rose. Those who had the opportunity to meet her will remember her warmth, compassion and kind heart. We will cherish her smiles and laughter always in our memories. Rose is preceded in death by her brothers Jack, Joe, and Ralph Hopfauf and sister Josephine Stein. Surviving family include: brother, Richard Hopfauf, sister, Anne Frank, sister, Gardy Klos, sister, Veronica Hopfauf, son, Larry Helbling and wife Kathy, son Gary Helbling and wife Christi, daughter Rose Marie Underwood and husband Garcia, son Allen Helbling and wife Joy, grandchildren, Janet and Bob Holland, Nancy and Eric Parazoo, Becky and George Miller, Natalie and Pat McManus, Wendy and Mitch Black, Timothy Underwood, Michele' and Trev Carson, Charity Helbling and Lance Wilson, Carrie Helbling, great grandchildren, Alex, Megan, Daniel, Colby, Rieley, Sayge, Alyssa, Maia, Karsun.
