Irene Glasser, 83, was born into eternal life on February 27, 2016, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, North Dakota.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 10:30 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 800 East Broadway, Bismarck with Monsignor Gene Lindemann officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm Friday, March 4, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Irene was born into this earthly life on November 3, 1932 in Solen, North Dakota. She was the eighth of 9 children born to Nick and Celestina (Leingang) Hatzenbuhler. She attended school in Solen. Irene married the love of her life, Lawrence Glasser, on November 8, 1950, and then moved to Bismarck where they made their home. She was employed at St. Alexius Medical Center for over 30 years in various capacities where she made many lifelong friends. She retired in 1993.
Irene enjoyed camping, traveling, and cooking and baking for family and friends, but her greatest investment and joy was with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene often mentioned that her greatest accomplishments in life were taking pride in her children and being called Grandma, G-MA, and GG. She was a woman who loved Jesus and all those around her. Her family meant everything to her and she has left an incredible legacy that will last forever. She was everyone’s “Grandma” and friend. She was intentional with love and was quick to forgive. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren refer to her as “the most wonderful woman they have ever met.” She fought through many health challenges and we now rejoice knowing that in Heaven there is no more pain and no more suffering.
Those who were so privileged to have shared in her life are: two daughters and sons-in-love, Carol and Dan Landeis, Bismarck, and Karen and Bob Porsborg, Center; one son and daughter-in-love, Lawrence Jr. and Carmen Glasser; 11 grandchildren, Jessica and Jeremy Oakland, Jonnica and Sannon Norick, Chad Porsborg and special friend Tammy Anderson and family, Heather and Scott Bullinger, David and Shari Glasser, and Stephen and Taylor Glasser; 9 great-grandchildren, Grant, Brayden, and Amiyah Oakland, Selah Norick, Chance and Brody Porsborg, Brandon, Logan, and Ryan Bullinger. Those also privileged to have shared in her life include her St. Mary’s small group; Roger and Karen Kubik, Lanny and Lenora Kenner, Mike and Bonnie Haupt.
Irene is survived by her sisters Magdalene Balkowitsch and Caroline Kuntz. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence, her grandson, Joshua Landeis; her parents Nick and Celestina Hatzenbuhler; 3 brothers, Anton Hatzenbuhler, Jacob Hatzenbuhler, John Hatzenbuhler; 3 sisters, Betty Kautzman, Rose Geiss, a stillborn baby sister and several nieces and nephews.
We are deeply comforted that we do not have to say goodbye ~ but rather see you later Mom, Grandma, GG, sister, aunt, and friend.
